Five Things To Look Out For When Buying Your Child A Backpack

School won't be the same without seeing kids and their backpacks. Often times, when we hear the word elementary school, we immediately envision little girls in ponytails running around with colorful backpacks strapped on their backs. Well of course, this vision is indeed true.

Elementary school is often associated with pigtails, superheroes and of course backpacks. If you have a school age child, he or she would simply prefer a backpack when ask what kind of bag he or she wants for school. Buying a backpack for your kid may be simple but it wouldn't hurt to know some tips.

1. First thing you should consider is the shoulder straps. For kids, it would be better if you get them backpacks that have wide and padded adjustable straps. Adjusting the straps will help you fit the backpack properly. Ill fitting backpacks can result to back pains and posture problems in the future.

The pads on the shoulder straps will provide cushioning so that the straps won't dig into your child's shoulder especially when his or her backpack is full. A wide strap will mean better support and coverage.

2. Next thing you should consider is the size. The size of the backpack should be proportionate to your child's size. Buying them backpacks that are too big for them might result to some problems. Smaller children should have smaller backpacks so that they will be able to carry this with ease and they won't have to hunch down just to keep the backpack in place when they are walking.

3. If rolling backpacks are allowed at your child's school, then you might want to consider buying him one. If in case you do prefer rolling backpacks, it would be a great idea to consider the wheels.

The wheels should be strong and sturdy enough to be able to sustain the rough handling. We all know how children drag rolling backpacks up the stairs although such a practice is not recommended because it can damage the wheels. Backpack with wheels will surely make carrying easier because your child can alternate from carrying the bag on his back or rolling it

4. Check the materials used. It is already a known fact that children love running around and there are times when they get clumsy. So when buying a backpack for your kid, the material should be resistant to punctures, water and even stain.

The backpack should be made from a material that is easy to clean and does not stain easily. The fibers should be well spun and the stitches reinforced. Such characteristics will help assure you that the backpack you are about to buy will be able to sustain the rough handling of a child.

In addition, rubber bottoms are also an advantage because children have the tendency to place their backpacks anywhere not caring if it is wet, dry or muddy.

5. Check also for additional features. These features include extra pockets where your child can store other items like water bottles, umbrellas or raincoats and probably a mobile phone, just in case he or she has one.
